Emerson Street Media partnered with VHC Health and former WJLA ABC7 news anchor Alison Starling to conceive, produce, and deliver a promotional video announcing the launch of the health system’s new podcast, Living Well, bringing a lighthearted tone to a traditionally more serious space.

The project began with joint discovery sessions that brought together Alison and the health system’s communications team to align on goals, audience, and overall tone. With multiple stakeholders involved, ESM played a central role in shaping a concept that felt authentic to Alison’s personality while remaining aligned with the VHC Health brand. Early creative development focused on identifying opportunities to inject humor and relatability, ultimately landing on an approach that incorporated Alison’s children and family dog to create a warm, approachable feel.

ESM developed a detailed production plan that accounted for scheduling logistics and the added complexity of working with children and animals while also building in room for spontaneity. During filming, the team managed on-site direction and stakeholder coordination, maintaining a relaxed, upbeat environment to capture natural, unscripted moments while keeping the shoot on track. In post-production, ESM translated this energy into a cohesive final product through upbeat editing, light music, and thoughtful pacing, carefully selecting moments that highlighted personality and warmth.

The result was a fun, relatable promotional video that successfully introduced the new podcast while aligning with VHC Health’s brand identity.
